Rossie lives

Normally our weekend plans make up our final/only post on Friday’s.  But the sad news of Bob Rosburg’s passing compels us to do a follow-up.

I like the One Eyed Golfer’s simple and accurate assessment here.

Neither I or Corey are old enough to really remember watching and listening to Rossie’s on course commentary.  I was introduced to it via Tom Coyne’s book – Paper Tiger.  As a side note, Corey and I both highly recommend you add it to your golf reading list if you haven’t done so already.

In it Coyne talks about how he and a friend would use Rossie’s back and forth as the basis for their own ‘on course commentary’, and as a fun head game during the round.

It’s a habit Corey and I have picked up:

“Oohh that does not look good from over there Rossie.”

“No, this young man is going to have a heckuva a time from here.  No chance.”

RIP Rossie, your voice lives on through the banter and good natured ribbing between friends on courses around the world.
