Yes, he will be missed. I also never met him in person but traded emails, posts, comments, etc. I am truly saddened and my condolences go out to his family.
Peerless. I shall miss him very much.
It’s just so damn sad. I will miss him too. A lot.
Right about the time you were blowing out the candles, my new e-mail filter decided to send your messages directly to “Junk Mail”. Everyone’s a critic these days. Still love you though.
Wow, that Corey Grice is HOT!!!
Congrats guys. You give good blog.
Well done guys ! Keep up the good work.
Tiger has overcome alot these few months and of course he will be off when it comes to his golf game. Give it some time and if anyone can bounce back, he would be the first choice. This guy is the most talented golfer in the entire galaxy and i’m confident the world can’t wait to see him get back to form.
Tom Watson: Don’t miss, don’t miss, don’t miss …motherfxxxxxxxx!!!
Actually I think he’ll contend this week.
nice piece hack.
“We are a family oriented club (no gays, hippies or Obama voters please)” … bahahahahaha
Make sure and list the NiceBallz website on your application. Country Club Admission committees are known for their sense of humor. “So, is Hack your first name or your last name then?”
Some poeple just don’t belong …
Golf is a difficult sport to get into without some means. Playing on public courses only in NYC area, 20 rounds of golf (if you have the time) comes out to a thousand bucks for 50 dollars a round (good luck finding it at that price!). A bucket of balls -10 bucks. A bag of sticks (used) 100 to 200 bucks.
Here in Iowa, the golf is more democratic with every small farm town having its public 9 hole track. These are taken care of with an intensity only farmers can bring -the 9 holer near my house may be a bit flat in parts, but the grass and greens are PERFECT. Afternoons, you see the high schoolers playing golf for gym.
Vilifying private clubs is easy to do, but in the big picture, doing so ultimately hurts golf because it reinforces golf as a rich man’s sport and not A PATH TO ENLIGHTENMENT that it is. To the non-golfer, there is no difference between a public track player knocking out his $1 TopFlite and Judge Smails rolling his $4 Titleists ProV1’s.
As a nomadic golfer, having given up my golf club membership (although absolutely nothing like the subscriptions we’re talking here!) to play different courses, I find it interesting that many golfers are willing to “tie” themselves to playing the same course over and over again.
Having already paid your entrance fees and monthly subscriptions playing a new course every so often makes for very expensive rounds of golf.
I’ve come close several times, but have never had one myself. Hit the flagstick twice, ball ended up a few inches away both times. One of those couldn’t have gone in, could it? Nope. I must have done something to piss off the golf gods at some point. I’ve witnessed two — a good friend’s and my father-in-law’s, both their first aces. They suck.
Doc…every private club I’ve been to so far has some very nice, decent people at them…and a disproportionate % of people who are dickbags. Not sure why…but that’s been my experience. Unfortunately, stereotypes exist for a reason often.
Had a guy in our 4-some leave it 6″ short on Sunday…(that’s what she said).
what a cat fight?
nice video…an old school kind! before entering this site I have no idea about the pepper thing, after watching the video, I laugh and said, “now I know!”
Two in a round is crazy. I have five including two on the same hole as well as starting my round with one another time.
You should blow up Corey’s head to like 3x the size – that’s what my photo will look like when/if I ever get one.
His head is already too big now
.
We all hate you Colin.
(kidding of course)
Well, dumb is one excuse. I’ve taken a lot of flack for this, but I really only have one conclusion. He grounds the club, steps away, then doesn’t ground the club implying something changed in his thinking about the lie. Contrast this to Brian Davis at this year’s Heritage where he called into question his backswing which may or may not have swished a weed in the bunker (it did and knocked him out of the playoff). Or Stuart Appleby who at the same course several years ago grounded, cleaned up debris, then grounded his club, incurring 5 strokes. Bobby Jones famously declared, “you might as well praise a man for not robbing a bank,” after calling a penalty in a bunker that only he saw. Mr. Johnson’s actions reflects this society’s approach to transgression: act as if nothing happened then play the victim. If Davis wanted to win it, he would have kept it in the fairway. He’s obviously very talented, but the video shows that his head is not in the game at the most critical moments. The idea that he was robbed is the reason why you see unrepaired ball marks and unfilled divots.

errata in comment above: should read, “if Mr. Johnson wanted to win it, he would have kept it in the fairway.”
So much can be said about not using driver on the 18th hole of a major championship where many could have beens wish for a lifetime they had used a 3 iron.
