NiceBallz - Play Ballzy

And the Lord said … these ballz are good.

Ok, that’s not exactly how it started. If you’re familiar with us then you probably have some idea of how we got our name.

But, it’s time more of the back story is revealed, including the (until now) faceless individual who served as the inspiration for the NiceBallz name, and thus our blogging beginnings.

Here he is folks, take a long look:

Sure, he LOOKS innocent enough. But behind that charming smile and relaxed posture beats the heart of a sadist. Why do I think this, you ask?

Were it not for Mr. X (I’ll keep his name confidential for now) @GolferWriterGuy and I would likely still be living our pleasantly ignorant and blissful lives.

But nooooooooo … Mr. X here has to go and tell a couple of dudes on the golf course how they have “Nice balls…” after they played through our group and hit great tee shots.

We laughed and laughed that day:

“Hey Mr. X, you sure do like nice balls eh?”

“Mr. X, what are the nicest balls you’ve seen?”

“Do you get up close to see how the balls look before you determine if they are nice or not?”

But he would have the last laugh. Corey and I were only missing a name to begin our path of self-destruction into golf blogging and twitterland. A memorable, fun, double entendre of a name.

Now, we are up all hours of the night, checking web stats, writing, strategizing, tweeting, Facebooking … it’s insane! It must stop, but we can’t. We’re totally hooked. And, it’s all thanks to that smug sonofabitch up there.

Again, don’t let his innocent appearance fool you. I’ve long suspected in fact he’s not even human. The guy is ridiculously active. He hikes, he runs, he dragonboat races. Seriously, WHO DOES ALL OF THAT?!?

Mr. X does … and it just proves he’s a vessel of the dark lord sent here to lure us into some sort of freakish blogging hell, while at the same time sending our handicap indexes skyrocketing.

Yes, grin now Mr. X. Your time is coming, Sir … vengeance will be ours.
